The IFLA Section for Equitable and Accessible Library Services (EALS) provides an international forum for the discussion of ideas and sharing of experiences. The section also discusses the development and usage of tools designed to promote and improve equal access to library and information services for everyone and to ensure libraries and library services are inclusive, equitable and accessible to all people, regardless of their life situation.

Our target groups include, but are not limited to: people with physical disabilities or mobility impairment; people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind; people with dyslexia, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or other learning disabilities; people with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia; people living with mental health issues; people with cognitive disabilities or autism spectrum disorder; people who are in hospitals, nursing homes, or other care facilities; people in prisons; displaced persons, including migrants, refugees and asylum seekers; and people who are experiencing homelessness. All these groups have a legal right to equitable access to information and to library programmes and services.

The Section promotes national and international cooperation at all levels.
