Disclaimer and Terms of Use of IFLA’s mailing lists
When using an IFLA mailing list, users agree:
- Only to send messages and materials that are strictly related to the particular list. In particular, we strongly discourage the sharing of messages which could better be sent directly (for example ‘Thank you’s).
- That the mailing lists are for non-commercial use only. Users should not distribute any material containing, advertising or solicitation for goods or services without requesting and receiving prior written approval from IFLA.
- That they should not use lists to seek nominations or votes in the context of IFLA elections.
- That they should refrain from over-use of mailing lists. Excessively frequent use fills up the inboxes of many colleagues at once, can hide more meaningful content, and can lead to unsubscribe requests.
- That they shall remain solely responsible for the content of their messages – distribution on IFLA’s lists does not imply any endorsement or validation by IFLA.
- That they shall not intentionally seek to mislead colleagues, for example by requesting contributions to publications which do not comply with high editorial standards. Any form of solicitation from predatory publishers is not tolerated.
- That any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) obtained from IFLA mailing lists must include freely given, informed, specific, and unambiguous consent, in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements.
- When advertising positions on LIBJOBS, and in any other communications relating to categories of persons, that they are aligned with the policy of IFLA not to discriminate on grounds of age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, language, nationality, political views, religious beliefs or sexual orientation.
IFLA reserves the right – without notice to the subscriber – to refuse, terminate or suspend subscriptions and to reject or delete, messages that are unsolicited/commercial, off-topic, abusive, obscene, in violation of copyright laws, unlawful, incorrect/inaccurate, fraudulent, threatening, unacceptable or are in violation of this Agreement.
If you believe that content shared via an IFLA mailing list violates these terms, please get in touch with the list moderator. They will consider the request and explore a suitable response, bearing in mind the need both to enable discussion and prevent misuse.
IFLA does not sell email addresses or otherwise make them available to anyone other than list moderators and owners.
