Purpose

The purpose of the Working Group for the management of the National Bibliographic Register (NBR) is to manage retrospective and incoming data about national bibliographies, including data analysis and publishing NBR details online.

Scope of work

The scope of work of the NBR Working Group is to:

  • Publish bibliography details for new or updated NBR entries online.
  • Continuously develop and refine the NBR registration form template to optimize data capture, and enhance the quality of national bibliographic data analysis.
  • Perform data analysis on bibliography details to identify and report on trends in national bibliographies.
  • Provide advice on bibliography establishment and maintenance according to the Common Practices for National Bibliographies in the Digital Age.
  • Actively engage with NBR registrants to seek current bibliography details.
  • Perform outreach activities to encourage new NBR registrants.

Membership

The NBR comprises Standing Committee members of the IFLA Bibliography Section.

Terms of office

The NBR is an ongoing working group charged with developing and maintaining the National Bibliographic Register.

Report and communication

The Chair of the NBR Working Group reports to the Bibliography Section Chair. The Chair communicates about work progress in standing committee meetings and in regular progress reports, and shares inputs to update the Working Group action plan progress.
