A couple of years ago IFLA Sections on Education (SET) and Training and Knowledge Management (KM Section) launched a joint project to explore the different national and regional approaches to Knowledge Management Education and Training. In 2023, SET partnered KM Section in organizing a satellite meeting “Perspectives on Global Knowledge Management Training and Education” in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. A preliminary review of a landscape of KM education and training was presented in the Library Trends Special Issue 72(2). Kendra Albright (KM Section), Frank Cervone, and Albina Krymskaya (SET) served as guest editors. The special issue includes 11 articles (including the Introduction section) with a focus on KM programs in Africa, Australasia, Brazil, China, Europe, the Middle East, North America, Russia, and South Asia. Both a satellite meeting in Rotterdam and the Library Trends Special Issue helped to gather KM educators from across various regions. Currently, the research group led by Kendra Albright and Albina Krymskaya numbers over 40 highly professional specialists. Initial meetings focused on developing an interview and survey questions that would map KM programs across the world with an in-depth understanding of educational and training programs in KM.
