In an era where technology continues to redefine our future, the M&M Talk series presents an insightful event on March 5th from 13:00 to 15:00 CET. This free online event, conducted in English via the Zoom platform, invites participants to explore the intersections of artificial intelligence and the evolving landscape of library services.
Speaker Lineup:
– Stephen Wyber, External Affairs Director at IFLA, will kick off the session with insights from “The Updated IFLA Trend Report.” Attendees can explore the report in detail here: IFLA Trend Report. Wyber will provide a comprehensive overview, addressing the future directions for libraries globally.
– Dr. Mashilo Modiba, a Senior Lecturer at the University of South Africa in the Department of Information Science, will present “Artificial Intelligence Driven Smart Libraries: The Role of Cybrarianship in Society 5.0.” His talk will cover current AI trends, associated benefits, challenges, and provide recommendations for libraries adapting to these rapid changes.
– PhD. Christie Koontz, a mentor for the M&M section – Florida State University, will discuss “Data-Driven Library Marketing & a Role for ChatGPT AI.” Koontz will explore how modern technologies, including AI, can revolutionize marketing strategies within the library sector.
The session will be moderated by M&M SC member Romeo Matumba, ensuring a seamless flow and facilitating a dynamic Questions & Discussion segment, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers.
