Leadership lies at the core of IFLA’s Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning (CPDWL) Section‘s mission, and our work for 2025 reflects this focus.

At CPDWL, we see leadership as a skill nurtured through learning and collaboration. In 2025, we will prioritise initiatives to enhance leadership competencies among library professionals. These include webinar series, online coaching, updates to the CPD Guidelines, and resources like the Library Manual that focus on mentoring, advocacy, and leadership in workplace learning environments.

Empathy and inclusion remain central to our work. Leadership today requires understanding diverse perspectives, fostering trust, and creating safe spaces for innovation. CPDWL is committed to ensuring our programs are accessible, inclusive, and supportive of professionals at all career stages, especially in the AI era.

Collaboration is critical to our success. By partnering with six IFLA Regional Division Committees (RDCs) and sections such as Management and Marketing, Knowledge Management, Preservation and Conservation, School Libraries, Library Services to Multicultural Populations, Subject Analysis and Access, Library Theory and Research, Education and Training, and the Religions: Libraries and Dialogue Special Interest Group, CPDWL continues to deliver impactful joint programming at and beyond WLIC 2025, develop resources, and amplify global knowledge-sharing opportunities.

Together, we lead, learn, and thrive in CPDWL, in IFLA and beyond
