As part of the Horizon Europe-funded REMEDIS project (REthinking MEdia DIgital Skills), an international consortium has launched a new digital tool to support educators, librarians, civil society actors, and policymakers in evaluating Media Literacy and Digital Skills (ML&DS) interventions. The Evaluation Planner is an interactive, AI-powered assistant that helps users design context-sensitive, impact-oriented evaluation plans—especially for vulnerable populations.

Based on systematic research and real-world insights from interventions across Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Poland, Spain, and the UK, the tool responds to a pressing need: the lack of accessible, user-friendly resources for evaluating ML&DS efforts. The Planner draws from REMEDIS’s own Evaluation Toolkit and trusted sources like Ofcom to provide reliable, flexible guidance.

“This tool acts like a supportive consultant,” says Leen d’Haenens, REMEDIS principal investigator: “It engages users in a conversation, asking about their goals, audience, methods, and more, while offering plain-language explanations of what each choice means for their evaluation design.”

Available in multiple languages, the Planner adapts its feedback to the user’s context, whether developing a school-based pilot or a programme for older adults. It produces a tailored evaluation plan and remains available for follow-up support, including advice on surveys and indicators.

The Evaluation Planner makes rigorous evaluation approachable, empowering practitioners to improve their interventions through evidence-based learning.
