At WLIC2025 the session on “Perspectives on open science” highlighted the crucial role libraries play in advancing equitable, multilingual, and open research worldwide.
Speakers covered how persistent identifiers and open metadata build trustworthy open infrastructures, how bibliodiversity and multilingualism support inclusion, and innovative projects like Open Books Hong Kong expanding access to Chinese academic works.
The session also showcased how libraries in Nepal and beyond bridge local and global knowledge, fostering an open, diverse scholarly ecosystem.
Big thanks to the IFLA Advisory Committee on Open Science and Scholarship and all contributors for driving a more inclusive open science future.
