Planning for Futures: Be Bold
24–28 October 2026 | Hosted by Utrecht, The Netherlands
The IFLA Metropolitan Libraries Section (MetLib) invites you to save the date for the 2026 MetLib Conference — Planning for Futures (Be Bold) — taking place from 24 to 28 October 2026 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
Each year, the MetLib Conference gathers library leaders, professionals, and innovators from major urban library systems worldwide. Together, participants explore strategies for serving metropolitan communities, fostering creativity, and sustaining the social, cultural, and educational roles of libraries in an ever-changing urban context.
The 2026 conference will be proudly hosted by G4 Libraries, representing the four largest cities of the Netherlands — Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht. This consortium exemplifies the collaborative spirit and innovation driving Dutch public libraries today.
Join us in Utrecht to share visions, exchange knowledge, and imagine what bold library futures might look like.
Further details — including the call for papers, registration, and practical information — will follow early in 2026.
