When it comes to advancing inclusion and labour market integration, and combatting poverty, few other institutions have the reach and flexibility of libraries. The IFLA team at the World Summit on Social Development helped open delegates’ eyes to this potential.
IFLA's engagement at this landscape meeting of national and international authorities, as well as experts and activists from around the world, will be led by Alaa Ahmed (Egypt), Zoubeida Bouallagui (Tunisia) and Rami Oudeh (Jordan). Join PAC Qatar at the 4th Doha Conference on Combating the Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property: Crisis Preparedness and Cultural Heritage Protection – Prevention to Recovery. This edition is organized in partnership with UNESCO’s Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen and the Embassies of the United States, France and Italy in Doha, and is part of the Library’s Himaya program to prevent the loss of cultural heritage in the MENA region.

Qatar National Library, in partnership with the IFLA Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa, invites library professionals to join the fourth edition of the Libraries Lead Forum, taking place in person on 5 May 2025. Prior to the event, two pre-forum workshops will be held on 4 May.
An IFLA side-event at the International Council on Science General Assembly underlined positive trends in information collection, management and sharing, across disciplines and borders, especially in the Middle East and North Africa Region. Yet the support of governments and partners is still very much needed to realise goals.
