Call for Proposals: Webinar Series for LIS Students- April’s Theme: “Translating Theory into Practice through Workplace Learning: A Panel Discussion”
The IFLA Division C is excited to re-launch the Webinar Series for LIS students that was initiated by the IFLA Division IV – Support of the Profession in spring 2021. This series provides a platform for students to share their projects, research, and ideas on key topics related to libraries and information science.

Theme: Translating theory into practice through workplace learning: A panel discussion
Format: Online, free, and open to all (no registration fees)
Call for Proposals
We are interested in hearing about how industry placements and internships helped you in preparing to enter the real-life workplaces.
The proposal may focus on:
- How did you find placement or internship experience during your study helpful or not so helpful with your future career planning?
- What did you learn most from industry placement or internship experience during your study?
- How did you find the knowledge you learnt in classrooms applicable or not so applicable in the real-life situations during placements or internships?
Who can submit?
Library and Information Science students who have completed industry placements or internships are encouraged to submit a proposal about the topic. Proposals (in MS Word) must include:
- Name, title, institution, email of speaker(s);
- Brief biographical statement about each speaker (maximum 100 words);
- Title of proposed presentation;
- Abstract highlighting its relevance to the theme (maximum 400 words).
Submissions
Submit your proposals to Susanne List-Tretthahn ([email protected]) and Anita Dewi ([email protected]).
Accepted participants will receive a certificate from IFLA SET for presenting at the webinar. Presentations will be delivered online by the presenter, in PowerPoint format. Each presentation will last for 20 minutes, including 5-10 minutes for questions and answers.
Important dates
- Deadline for submission is 30 March 2025
- Three proposals will be accepted for presentation and the accepted participants will be notified by 7 April 2025
- The webinar will be held online on 28 April 2025
