“Copyright Protection of Chinese Traditional Culture”
Traditional culture serves as a precious legacy of human society. Countries worldwide are actively exploring approaches to revitalize and utilize traditional cultural resources. In China, these cultural elements are frequently embedded within contemporary creative works presented to the public, making cultural heritage-related creations crucial subjects of copyright protection. In this lecture, we will first introduce China’s copyright protection system and legal framework, and illustrate through case studies how traditional culture manifests in modern Chinese creative expressions. Then, we will analyze China’s practices in protecting copyrights of these works by examining several typical judicial cases. The discussion aims to provide references for addressing copyright protection challenges in the revitalization and utilization of traditional cultural resources globally.
