UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week raises awareness and celebrates acheivements towards media and information literacy for all. This year’s Global MIL Week theme is Minds Over AI – MIL in Digital Spaces. It will be explored with an official conference will be held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

MIL Alliance Day

UNESCO has recently launched   a strategic renewal of the Global Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance. A full day of the Conference will be dedicated to exploring the new strategic action plan of the Alliance, discussing its priorities, and redesigning how it works with its Chapters.

IFLA is represented by our representative on the MIL Alliance International Steering Committee, Sara Kaddu (Uganda).

Side Event

Partnership as the Foundation for Ethical AI in Universities: The Role of University Libraries

This Side Event is organized by IFLA in partnership with the UNESCO Information for All  Programme’s Working Group on Information Literacy. It seeks to explore how partnerships can serve as the foundation for ethical and human-centered AI adoption in universities, and how libraries can lead these collaborations to ensure that innovation remains responsible, inclusive, and aligned with academic values.
