Open educational resources (OER) is a new field which is under development. It needs advocacy and awareness raising amongst teachers and communities. This requires proactive outreach, communication, and collaboration from librarians. OER is a very diverse topic, and touches upon traditional library skills and tasks but needs stepping up and communication at the same time. It needs know-how in the fields of metadata and platforms, copyright and Creative Commons, but also in teaching/ training, project management, outreach, networking, and communication.
We are interested in hearing about your practical experience and research in the dynamic field of open educational resources requiring various learning competences and abilities for independent learning.
The proposal may focus on:
- How AI changed the OER environment as AI generated content is not copyright protected and can be re-used in OER?
- How are open textbooks, course materials, videos, quizzes, worksheets, tasks and solutions, experiments, etc. being created and shared online?
- OER and Sustainable Development Goals: how do they support access to education and create synergies for teachers, librarians and library users?
- OER and the application of Creative Commons licenses allowing for OER to be retained, revised, remixed, reused, redistributed.
- Open education and the students as co-creators of teaching- and learning materials.
Library and Information Science students who have used OER in their professional activities are encouraged to submit a proposal about the topic. Proposals (in MS Word) must include:
- Name, title, institution, email of speaker(s);
- Brief biographical statement about each speaker (maximum 100 words);
- Title of proposed presentation;
- Abstract highlighting its relevance to the theme (maximum 400 words).
