Knowledge Café: Uniting Colleagues in Building Our Future
Session #142 at IFLA WLIC 2025
Join the Knowledge Management Section’s open session at WLIC to connect and network examining critical issues facing our libraries. The Knowledge Café is a popular IFLA program with the goal of connecting colleagues as they gather to discuss the future of libraries and existing challenges. Together, IFLA colleagues will brainstorm on solutions and share best practices. Librarians will be energized through these discussions to act on current issues such as AI, leadership, wellness, finances, literacy, professional development, and organizational structures. The Café program structure will be highly interactive that will have the additional benefit of connecting participants with each other through discussion and reflection.
The session will focus on connecting libraries and enabling meaningful change. Its emphasis on global collaboration, exchanging ideas, and addressing critical challenges such as AI, leadership, and professional development is both timely and impactful. The Cafe draws upon the changes identified in the recent IFLA Trend Report. The interactive Knowledge Café format fosters meaningful discussions and actionable takeaways. With facilitators from diverse regions and collaboration across IFLA sections, the session offers a global, interdisciplinary approach to addressing key library issues.
