MexINFO 2024 – Mexican Information Global Forum
The Institute of Library Information and Investigation (IIBI) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), in collaboration with the Advisory Committee on Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE-IFLA), is organizing the Mexican Information Global Forum (MEXINFO), which will be held in Mexico City this August with the participation of eight IFLA units.
The forum will address aspects of global relevance that affect the information environment, from traditional knowledge to artificial intelligence, having freedom of access to information and freedom of expression as one of its axes.
Within the framework of this Global Forum, five decades of collaboration between the library community of Latin America and the Caribbean and IFLA will be celebrated under the title: “New trends in the information environment: 50 years of international cooperation with IFLA”.
The events to be held include:
- International Seminar of the IFLA Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Division “New trends in the information environment: 50 years of international cooperation with IFLA”. (LAC Regional Division, FAIFE)
- International Symposium on Libraries and Censorship “Unshelving Voices: Empowering Libraries Against Censorship”. (FAIFE, LGBTQ+ SIG, School Library Section, and Management of Library Associations (MLAS).
- Symposium on Indigenous Matters “Stewarding Indigenous Knowledge through Ethics, Law, and the Archive”. (FAIFE, Indigegenous Matters Section, and Copyright and other Legal Matters (CLM) Advisory Committee)
- International Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Information Integrity “Building Trust: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Information Integrity” (FAIFE, and Artificial Intelligence SIG).
MEXINFO will be held in its morning sessions at the Instituto de Investigaciones Ecónomicas (IIEC) and in the afternoon sessions at the Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliotecológicas y de la Información (IIBI) and the Centro de Investigaciones sobre América del Norte (CISAN) of UNAM.
