Call for Presentations, Posters, and Workshops

The IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section (PARL) invites proposals for presentations, posters, and workshops at its 39th Satellite meeting taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Saturday and Sunday, 23-24 August 2025.

Topics of Interest
The conference theme is: Fostering Collaboration and Innovation in Parliamentary Libraries and Research Services: Building Skills for a Connected Future. Therefore, we invite proposals for presentations, workshops and posters on the following topics:
- Developing Future-Ready Skills for Parliamentary Librarians and Research Analysts
- Strategies for working with experts, academic institutions, and stakeholders to strengthen support for decision-makers.
- How to acquire skills outlined in the Agenda Skills for the 2024 Trend Report : practical, partnership and personal development skills.
- Emerging trends, Innovation and New Practices in Parliamentary Libraries and Research Services:
- Adoption of new technologies or practices to enhance research and information services in parliamentary settings.
- Case studies and practices in parliamentary settings that resonate with the challenges and trends identified in IFLA 2024 Trend Report.
- Artificial Intelligence for Parliamentary Research and Knowledge Management
- Experiences and best practices for integrating AI in parliamentary research while maintaining information integrity.
- Overview of AI tools used in information retrieval, fact-checking, and summarization.
- Hands-on exercises with AI-based platforms that support legislative research.
- Discussion on integrating AI tools into workflows.
Highly engaging presentations will be selected with a knowledge sharing and practical experience focus, as well as encouraging innovative thinking in parliamentary libraries, research and information services. Please note that the presentations, workshops and posters should be delivered in-person. Presenters will have 10 minutes for a presentation or 30 minutes for a workshop.

Proposals should include:
- Type: presentation/poster/workshop
- Title of proposed presentation/workshop/poster
- Abstract of proposed presentation/workshop/poster (no more than 300 words)
- Theme (see above) of your presentation/workshop/poster addresses
- Name(s) of presenter(s) and position or title
- Employer / Institution
- Contact information, including e-mail address and telephone number
- Short biographical statement of presenter(s)
To be considered, proposals must include all information listed above.

Important dates
- 25 April 2025: Proposals received by this date will receive priority consideration
- 12 May 2025: Extended deadline for submission of proposals
- 15 May 5 June 2025: Expected response by members of the IFLAPARL Standing Committee to submissions
- 15 July 2025: Deadline for selected presenters to submit final presentations
