IFLA MLAS Mentorship of Library Associations – Survey
07 January 2026
A happy New Year to all of you from IFLA MLAS, the Management of Library Associations Section of IFLA! Our general mission is to build and support strong, well-managed library associations.
We are thrilled to kick off our Mentorship of Library Associations pilot project, an initiative designed to foster knowledge exchange and peer support among library associations worldwide.
The concept is simple: library associations answer a survey that will help us match associations across the globe (or within your specific region), based on experience on one side and an eagerness to evolve on the other—hopefully creating connections that are beneficial to both sides.
Within the survey, you will be able to define how much time you’re able to devote, where your areas of expertise (or interests) lie, etc. The level of commitment can be decided by mentors and mentees, for instance a one-off, a couple of weeks, or longer, all depending on your availability or needs.
If your New Year’s resolution includes any form of learning or development, this is your chance!
The survey will take 8–10 minutes and can be found here:
https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8606461/MLAS-Mentorship-Pilot
The survey will be open for three weeks, from 7 to 28 January.
It is conducted via Alchemer, a survey platform IFLA uses, and is in line with the IFLA data protection policy.
We look forward to receiving your input and will get in touch with you in due time once we have analysed the content and matched the mentorship pairs.
We hope that many library association members will participate in this pilot, either as mentees or mentors, and that all involved gain knowledge and networking benefits from it!
