The ICP working group is proud to present the revised version of the International Cataloguing Principles (ICP), approved in 2025 by the IFLA Cataloguing Section. A worldwide review is now launched to collect feedback from all concerned communities and individuals.

In order to fully understand the purpose and scope of the revision, respondents are invited to read the Statement of intent issued on this page.  Then, you can access the revised draft version of the ICP here.

Feedback will be particularly appreciated on the following topics:

  • Do you think the language of the document is easy to understand from a non-native English speaker point of view?
  • Do you think the structure of the document is clear and consistent?
  • Do you think the purpose of the document is clearly stated?
  • Did you find the statement of intent helpful in your assessment of the document?
  • Once it is endorsed, how would you like IFLA to communicate on the document in the future?

Please email your answers in an attached PDF or MS Word document to: [email protected] and [email protected]

Make sure to indicate “ICP World-wide Review” in the email subject line and to specify your name and affiliation in your response (name of institution and country).

Although English is preferred, comments are also welcome in French, German and Italian.

Review starts: 26 March 2025

Feedback deadline: 16 May 2025
