Message from the Asia-Oceania Regional Office Manager
07 March 2025
Dear friends,
Welcome to the latest edition of the IFLA Asia and Oceania Regional Newsletter. This issue explores how libraries are fostering reading communities and examines innovative initiatives across Asia that are reshaping library services.
IFLA recently concluded its centenary planning survey, gathering insights for the upcoming 2027 celebrations. The responses highlighted several key priorities. These include leveraging the anniversary to enhance the visibility of libraries and IFLA’s work globally, ensuring inclusive participation across all regions and organisational levels, and developing flagship publications alongside diverse resources that members and volunteers can readily implement.
Preparations are also underway for the 89th IFLA General Conference and Assembly in Astana, Kazakhstan. The poster session submissions are currently open, and financial support is available for eligible participants. Details about registration, accommodation, and grants can be found on the conference website.
We extend our appreciation to all contributors and look forward to bringing you more updates about the conference and other regional developments in our upcoming issues.
