IFLA and De Gruyter are pleased to announce the appointment of Debbie Schachter as Editor of the IFLA Publications Series. Debbie takes on the position from Janine Schmidt who has stepped down after eight years of shepherding numerous titles through to a successful publication outcome and from Joseph Hafner who has been part of the editorial team.

As a library practitioner, Debbie Schachter has written for magazines and newsletters. As part of her Doctor of Education research in critical information literacy teaching in higher education, she published journal articles and presented at conferences.

Her activities include being a reviewer for three international library science publications and a member of higher education ethical review boards. Within the IFLA Publications Series, she brings the experience as a title editor for the recently published Bridging Research and Library Practice – Global Perspectives on Education and Training (IFLA Publications; Nr 184, 2023).

Debbie has a background as an IFLA volunteer and is currently a member of the Library Theory and Research Section Standing Committee.

The IFLA Publications Series has a range of titles in progress and Debbie will now assume oversight of these and continue work with the title editors and authors.
