The 2023-2025 IFLA Governing Board will meet for the last time on 16 August 2025, in an in-person meeting ahead of the World Library and Information Congress in Astana.

The meeting is an opportunity to consider reports and make further steps forwards the achievement of the goals set out by the Board at the beginning of its mandate. Furthermore, with IFLA’s incoming President, President-elect and Treasurer already on the Board, everything is in place for a smooth handover.

 In particular, the board will discuss:

  •   Overall progress against the six priorities established by the Board in August 2023;
  •   Trends in IFLA membership, and in particular the results of our comprehensive membership survey earlier this year;
  •   The results of the IFLA staff survey on employee engagement;
  •   Reports on IFLA’s finances after two quarters of the year have passed, as well as updates to our Risk Register and plans around our Vouchers scheme;
  •   Updates on planning for WLIC 2026 in Busan, Korea, and next steps in selecting a host for WLIC 2027;
  •   Reports from our Professional and Regional Councils, as well as the Management of Library Associations Section (MLAS) and our Advisory Committees;
  •   IFLA’s representation on external bodies;
  •   Proposed terms of reference for the IFLA Ethics Advisory Committee, which will help ensure the effective implementation of our Code of Conduct for volunteers

 This meeting is open (with the exception of in-camera sessions), taking place from 15:30-18:00 local time in meeting room 4 at the Hilton Hotel, Astana.
