The ICP working group is proud to present the revised version of the International Cataloguing Principles (ICP), approved in 2025 by the IFLA Cataloguing Section. A worldwide review is now launched to collect feedback from all concerned communities and individuals.
IFLA’s Governing Board is meeting for the first time in person in 2025 next week, in Berlin. Four months from the end of its term, this is a chance to reflect on progress and successes, establish goals for the coming months and beyond, as well as fulfil its mission to manage the Federation effectively and in line with our missions and values.

At CPDWL, we see leadership as a skill nurtured through learning and collaboration. In 2025, we will prioritize initiatives to enhance leadership competencies among library professionals. These include webinar series, online coaching, updates to the CPD Guidelines, and resources like the Library Manual that focus on mentoring, advocacy, and leadership in workplace learning environments.
The IFLA Coaching Initiative, sponsored by the Management & Marketing (M&M) Section in collaboration with the Continuing Professional Development and Workplace Learning (CPDWL) Section, invites colleagues to participate in a free 30-minute online coaching session this April!
IFLA’s Social Sciences Section invites proposals for our upcoming online event titled, "Shaping the Future: The Impact of AI in Social Sciences Librarianship." This virtual event will bring together library professionals, academic faculty and staff, and technology experts to explore the transformative role of artificial intelligence in supporting and advancing social sciences librarianship.
This special issue of IFLA Journal, produced in collaboration with the IFLA Academic and Research Libraries Section, explores key trends shaping academic and research libraries worldwide.
Designed as a self-assessment tool for the library community, the toolkit aims to help libraries maximize the benefits of AI for information access in an equitable responsible and sustainable way. If you have experience or internet in engaging with AI in the library context, we encourage you to review the document and share your feedback with us.
