Debbie Schachter appointed as IFLA Publications Series Editor

    IFLA and De Gruyter are pleased to announce the appointment of Debbie Schachter as Editor of the IFLA Publication Series. Debbie takes on the position from Janine Schmidt who has stepped down after eight years of shepherding numerous titles through to a successful publication outcome and from Joseph Hafner who has been part of the editorial team.

    Marie-France Plassard, a Dedicated Contributor to IFLA Standards

      Marie-France Plassard, a respected officer and director of the IFLA Core Programme for Universal Bibliographic Control and International MARC (UBCIM), played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of international library standards. In 1991, she was responsible for establishing the Permanent UNIMARC Committee (PUC) under the UBCIM Programme.

        Today, IFLA opens the nominations process for over 800 positions on its many committees. There are six weeks for candidates to come forward, and for Members and Affiliates to submit nominations for the varied positions available.

          Who nominates? Understanding who is making the most of this IFLA membership benefit

            Association members, as well as those from Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East and North Africa, were the most likely to use their right to nominate candidates for roles within IFLA in 2023.
