Improvement in the literacy rates among the youth is imperative for long-term success in education and has thus become a gap that libraries have risen to fill. The Regional Office organised the Information Integrity hybrid session together with the Regional Division Committee on the side of the IIFS. The session featured presentations on libraries' role and efforts in promoting information integrity and literacy. Speakers from South Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania shared insights on the efforts as well as challenges of advancing information integrity within their respective countries.
As 2024 draws to a close, the Asia-Oceania Regional Division Committee is glad to announce that we have strengthened partnerships through events such as the Management of Library Associations (MLAS) conference and the Chinese Library Annual Conference, and hosted webinars a variety of webinars on topics ranging from rare books and special collections to information integrity.

The forum was organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Africa Union. This prestigious event falls under the framework of the Global Internet Governance Forum, serving as a regional platform for inclusive dialogue on Internet governance and digital public policy.
