PERSIST Guidelines for Content Selection of Digital Heritage Available in Six Languages

Offline Internet: Providing Access without a Connection
20 February 2018For around half of the world’s population, Internet connectivity is not a reality. Often, this is simply because there are no cables, or a good enough mobile signal, where they live. Cut off from information about jobs, education or healthcare, the lack of access risks compounding their marginalisation. A conference in Tempe, United States, looked at how library initiatives to provide 'offline Internet' can better help people bridge the information divide.
One Step Closer to Access: IFLA Welcomes Progress towards EU Ratification of Marrakesh
20 February 2018Last week, the Council of Ministers of the European Union, representing its Member States, voted to approve the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty. This opens the way to the EU and its 28 Member States formally joining the Treaty in the summer, opening up many new possibilities for access to, and exchange of, books in accessible formats for people with print disabilities.
