An intense series of events and meetings across Argentina and Chile have just come to an end, bringing together workshops, training, network-building, advocacy and opportunities to learn from each other. The result: new energy and new connections that will contribute to stronger and more sustainable library fields in Latin America and the Caribbean. These activities were made possible by financial support from Stichting IFLA Global Libraries.

IFLA’s 2024 Trend Report promotes efforts to strengthen relationships among people, public authorities and citizens, as a strategy to address both development obstacles and deeper drivers of insecurity. Cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, results from different cultures and their interactions.
The potential for art to enrich our lives is well understood, both in how we interact with visual cultures around us, and in the development of our own creativity. It can connect us through shared experiences and dialogue; challenge us in offering new perspectives on well-entrenched stories and beliefs; and it can bring us together to imagine a shared future. Art libraries play an important role in the potential of art to do all these things, serving as catalysts for creativity and connection.
The use of artificial intelligence technologies in libraries and archives enhances cataloging, search, and access to information resources. AI enables advanced automation, personalizes recommendations, and facilitates access to historical documents through digitization, thus improving operational efficiency and enriching the user experience.
We’re excited to share our final update as the working group concludes this important project!

The book will be published as part of the IFLA/De Gruyter Publication Series.
