Qatar National Library (QNL) is the host of IFLA's Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Division Committee. In this role, is has a mission to support the development of the field in the region. A great example of this was a recent training programme for Omani students in cutting-edge librarianship. IFLA was represented at the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Conference 2024, engaging with key partners in the EdTech ecosystem to make the case for libraries to be integrated into broader EdTech plans in Africa. We are grateful to Damilare Oyedele for this report.
This document represents a unification of library voices in regard to the Internet, it provides our vision of the Internet we want, it sets out a compelling narrative about the place of libraries in the digital space and provides a series of recommendations for different actors. Of course, we also see the manifesto as an opportunity to ensure that the library voice remains relevant and strong in the international discussions that are shaping the way forward in Internet Governance processes.
