The IFLA Committee on Standards will hold an open session in Helsinki on Thursday 16th August during the WLIC 2012. All are welcome to attend to give their input and suggestions to the Committee on Standards and to hear more about what the Committee plans to do.

Following the alarming situation in Mali, the Blue Shield expresses its deep concern regarding the safeguarding of the country’s invaluable cultural and historical heritage and deplores the suffering and loss of life this conflict has entailed.
The IFLA Governing Board has endorsed Principles of Engagement in library-related activities in times of crisis, conflict or disaster. The principles aim to encourage safeguarding and respect for cultural property especially by raising awareness and promoting disaster risk management and to strengthen cooperation and participation in cultural heritage activities.
