Members of the IFLA community played a prominent and active role in the inaugural Dubai International Library Conference, held on 15-17 November in Dubai, UAE, sharing ideas, experiences and lessons with colleagues from the country, region and world.
We are seeking proposals for chapters in a peer-reviewed book titled "New Frontiers on Freedom of Expression: Global Perspectives on Censorship." This book will provide a comprehensive examination of censorship within the library environment, serving as a foundational guide to understanding the nature of censorship, exploring impactful case studies, and equipping readers with advocacy tools to promote intellectual freedom and freedom of expression. The book will be published as part of the IFLA/De Gruyter Publication Series.
The Information Literacy Section Newsletter is published twice a year. This Winter Issue 2024 includes a total of six articles, with contributors from around the world, including the USA, Switzerland, Vietnam, Malaysia and Norway. These articles cover a variety of topics, mainly focusing on diverse information literacy programs in different countries, such as library information literacy initiatives, AI literacy course, information literacy workshop, legal information literacy program, and information literacy teaching network. A new report from IFLA brings together the results of a survey and additional research in order to offer a snapshot of how libraries and associations are working to champion intellectual freedom. It is an illustration of what is possible, as well as offering models and inspirations for others looking to do more in the field.
