IFLA’s Environment, Sustainability and Libraries Section (ENSULIB) is calling for expressions of interest for four, co-opted members to join our Standing Committee. We would like to see nominees especially from Asia, South-America and Africa to strengthen our diversity, but are also open to interest from other continents.
The Culture2030Goal campaign, of which IFLA is a founding member, has welcomed recent statements by UN Member States, the G20, the BRICS and ministers of the European Union which underline the role of culture in development, and point towards the need for a dedicated culture goal in future.

On Tuesday, 22 August 2023, the Digital Humanities and Digital Scholarship Special Interest Group (DH/DS SIG) and the Artificial Intelligence Special Interest Group (AI SIG) hosted a joint session at the IFLA World Library and Information Conference. The session, titled: “Will Generative AI be a Friend or Foe in the Future of Librarianship?”, featured six speakers from five continents.
On August 29, 2023, the new Zhejiang Library officially opened its door to the public, unveiling a fresh chapter in the public library development of Zhejiang province.

The Human Library Organisation held a programme with the hashtag #UnjudgeSomeone on January 14, 2023 at the Jakarta Cikini Library in Central Jarkata. The Libraries of the ASEAN University Network (AUNILO), a thematic network under the ASEAN University Network (AUN), serves as a platform for discussing strategies and sharing experiences in navigating the evolving landscape of education. The 18th AUNILO Meeting, which took place from 1 to 3 August 2023, gathered participation from a range of countries.
It is one of the primary tasks of the library management to show, acknowledge and announce to the world library community the state of the information and library sector in our country and the changes being implemented. Our membership in international librarianship institutions and organisations allows us to make many innovations in the library field. In addition, through IFLA, our employees participate in congresses, conferences, practical seminars and various studies, training and exchange of experience.

The IFLA Information Technology Section and IFLA Artificial Intelligence (AI) Special Interest Group in collaboration with the University of Chile and Library of the National Congress of Chile are pleased to announce the upcoming international symposium on AI and Libraries. Representatives of four different UN agencies met with over fifty librarians from across Sub-Saharan Africa at our mini-conference on how libraries can contribute to delivering the goals of the United Nations, identifying a wealth of opportunities for engagement. This event was made possible thanks to a grant from Stichting IFLA Global Libraries.
On 16-19 October, over 50 librarians from 32 Sub-Saharan African countries met in Nairobi, Kenya, to learn, share, and accelerate progress towards IFLA’s goal of strong and sustainable library fields at all levels.
