Meet the world at the World Library and Information Congress - regional sessions this year

    IFLA's global reach and geographical diversity will be on show at this year's World Library and Information Congress, in particular through the sessions organised by our Regional Council and Regional Division Committees. Each Committee has worked hard to prepare exciting open sessions, complemented by open business meetings, and our new Hubs Results Session, sharing views from our WLIC 2023 Regional Hubs.

      It has been a joy to serve two years as IFLA Officers of Acquisition and Collection Development (ACD) Section. We have been thrilled to develop friendships with a diverse group of IFLA professionals, share what we have learned, and witness career advancements within our Division and Section. We are excited to meet all standing committee members and observers in the business meeting on Sunday 20 August.

      Convening Notice for IFLA General Assembly, August 2023 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

        The IFLA General Assembly 2023 – the primary opportunity for our Members to take decisions about our Federation – will be held on Wednesday 23 August 2023 (16:00 – 18:00 CEST) and Thursday 24 August 2023 (15:00 – 17:00 CEST) in hybrid format, in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and online. The formal Convening Notice, published today, sets out details about the topics for discussions, and opportunities for participation.

        Record year for library references in Voluntary National Reviews of SDG implementation

          For the first time, over half of the official reviews of national efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as presented at the United Nations, refer to the contributions of libraries. This is a welcome recognition of the work of our field. This report explores and analyses these references, providing an advocacy tool for others in pushing for stronger recognition of and support for libraries in SDG delivery.
