On 21 February 2022, Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, Prime Minister of the German state of Bremen and city mayor, awarded IFLA President Barbara Lison the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstorden der Bundesrepublik Deutschland).
