At a side-event to the United Nations Science, Technology and Innovation Forum 2021, held on 5 May, speakers shared their insights on where work is needed to ensure that openness acts as a driver of sustainable development.
From targeted digital skills coaching to providing an adapted and welcoming space for all - an IFLA-led workshop at the WSIS Forum 2021 examined good practices and key issues in leveraging public access to connect the more vulnerable or underserved user groups.

The Governing Board continues to meet more regularly than in the past and has had four meetings since my last report to you in December. We are still working with the traditional pattern of August – December – April meetings containing the major reports on activities and statutory requirements.
IFLA WLIC 2021 will take place between 17-19 August on a dynamic virtual event platform, built and optimised for us by our new partner, Delegate Connect.
Today, elections open for key posts across IFLA. Following a great response to our call for nominations, there is a strong and diverse set of candidates ready to take IFLA’s work forward.

The “IFLA/Systematic Public Library of the Year” award celebrates new public libraries. And this year we celebrate both libraries build in 2019 and 2020.
To enable more robust in-person attendance, the date of the 17th International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) Conference at the Qatar National Library (QNL) in Doha has been shifted to 8-10 March 2022.
