As part of South African Library Week 2026 (#SALW2026), under the theme “Reclaiming Knowledge: Empowering Futures”, the LIASA Special Library Sector hosted a webinar on 18 March 2026 focused on strengthening research skills for special librarians and exploring the role of libraries in advancing global professional priorities.

A key feature of the session was the participation of Sanjay Kumar Bihani, Chairperson of the IFLA Government Libraries Section (GOVLIB). In his presentation, Sanjay shared insights into the IFLA Strategy 2024–2029, highlighting the role of government libraries in advancing shared professional priorities and demonstrating the power of international collaboration. His intervention illustrates how libraries across the world can work together to create new networks, share knowledge, and shape the future of the profession.

We are pleased to share the recording of his presentation, which offers valuable perspectives for librarians, information professionals, and all those interested in #IFLAStrategy , the strategic direction of the global library community.
