Dear Colleagues,

Warm greetings.

As part of efforts to showcase the vibrant work of African library and information professionals, the IFLA Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Division Committee (SSA RDC) is compiling stories for its November 2025 Newsletter, which will feature how LIS communities across Africa celebrated Open Access Week (October 2025). We are therefore inviting libraries, associations, universities, and information institutions across our region to share short stories and pictures highlighting how you marked this important global event.

Your submission could include:
A brief description (150–200 words) of your activity or event (e.g., seminar, training, awareness campaign, publication, social media engagement, etc.)
The theme or focus of your celebration and who participated
Any notable outcomes, partnerships, or lessons learned
1–3 high-quality photos (with captions and credits, where possible)

These stories will help document and celebrate the contributions of African libraries and librarians to advancing open access, knowledge equity, and information justice.
Please send your stories and photos by Friday, 22 November 2025 to the Information Coordinator; Richard Seglo via [email protected]

We look forward to receiving your contributions and showcasing the inspiring work happening across our continent.
