MetLib Learning Circle : Global Talent Development for Library Leaders

The MetLib Learning Circle is a global leadership development program created by the IFLA Metropolitan Libraries Section for library leaders serving urban communities of over 400,000 residents. It offers participants the opportunity to engage in monthly virtual convenings, peer learning, and collaborative project development with guidance from world-class facilitators. With two successful cohorts and participants from 27 cities across 12 countries, the Learning Circle has become a cornerstone for global collaboration, innovation, and professional growth among metropolitan library leaders.

IFLA WLIC and Collaboration with Other Sections

The Metropolitan Libraries Section actively contributes to the IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) by organizing conference sessions, sometimes in collaboration with other IFLA Sections. These initiatives foster cross-sector dialogue and highlight innovative approaches to urban library services. In addition, MetLib participates in the jury of the Public Library of the Year (PLOTY) award, supporting the recognition of excellence and innovation in public library design and community impact worldwide.
