Based on extensive communication with IFLA's member and volunteer community, we're proud to launch our Strategy for 2024-2029, which will take us through our centenary and almost to the end of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda.
Remind yourself of all that we achieved together in 2023 in our Annual Report. With a strong focus on sharing stories of our impact, as well as other key facts and figures around our work, this provides a great snapshot of what our Federation is all about.
We don’t need to know for sure what the future holds for libraries and the communities they serve in order to be able to play a role in shaping it. The 2024 Trend Report, launched at the Information Futures Summit and made possible by SIGL support, offers a key resource for librarians, libraries and library associations looking to integrate tomorrow into their planning today.
We’re barely a week away from the opening session of the IFLA Information Futures Summit. The event has a focus on providing a space for a collective discussion about information and knowledge environment of tomorrow, and how libraries can shape it. Our ambition is for it to be an accelerator of our efforts to prepare for, and be actors in, the future.
Welcome to the September 2024 edition of the IFLA Newsletter! With less than a week away from the start of the IFLA Information Futures Summit, this month’s newsletter is all about The Future. 📡

I’m happy to be writing to you, just a day after the IFLA Governing Board’s first in-person meeting of the year has come to an end! It was great to see colleagues together in The Hague for a really positive and productive meeting – the three days flew by, but I believe that we are making excellent progress against the commitments set out in August of last year.
We’re thrilled to publish the high-level programme of the Summit, setting out the key themes we’ll be exploring and questions we’ll be looking to answer.
