Call for Newsletter Articles – AI Across Cultures: Regional Realities and Experiences

Deadline: 9 March 2026

For its next newsletter, the IFLA Library Services to Multicultural Populations Section invites colleagues from around the world to contribute articles exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) is shaping library services, communities, and cultural contexts. We welcome reflections on opportunities, challenges, and lived experiences with AI in diverse regions and cultural settings.

Sample topics may include, but are not limited to:

  • How AI supports or challenges your local or regional context
  • AI literacy and culturally sensitive digital skills training for multicultural users
  • Trust, transparency, and explainability of AI for culturally diverse communities
  • Community perceptions of AI shaped by cultural values or histories
  • AI tools for multilingual access, translation, or cultural heritage work
  • Ethical considerations and cultural impacts of AI-generated content
  • Regional policies, norms, or innovations influencing AI adoption in libraries

We welcome and encourage contributions in languages spoken or read by volunteers in our section (currently English, French, Swedish, Persian, Spanish and Arabic). If your contribution is not in English, please include a brief English summary (no more than 100 words) or contact our newsletter editor for assistance. While we strive to publish multilingual content, our ability to do so depends on volunteer capacity.

The ideal article length is 400–600 words, accompanied by images when possible (300 dpi, JPEG format). By submitting articles and images, you acknowledge that they may be used internally and externally in print and digital formats—including publications, websites, and social media—under a CC-BY 4.0 license. You also confirm that you have secured permission to use any photos or third‑party content included in your submission.

Please submit your article by 9 March 2026 in one of the following ways:
