Last week, the Council of Ministers of the European Union, representing its Member States, voted to approve the ratification of the Marrakesh Treaty. This opens the way to the EU and its 28 Member States formally joining the Treaty in the summer, opening up many new possibilities for access to, and exchange of, books in accessible formats for people with print disabilities.

For the purpose of writing new guidelines a survey is beeing conducted in order to gather examples of modern day practice in the organization of library programmes and services that meet needs of people who are deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind. The survey is conducted internationally from February 10th to March 31st 2018 - EXTENDED DEADLINE UNTIL APRIL 30TH 2018.

IFLAPARL Call for Presentations, WLIC 2018, Kuala Lumpur The Section on Library and Research Services for Parliaments (IFLAPARL) has issued a call for presentations for its open session at WLIC 2018. This interactive knowledge sharing session will focus on the theme "Transforming Library & Research Services for Parliamentary Impact".
2018 has been declared the European Year of Cultural Heritage. While libraries are active in preserving our heritage every day of every year, this is a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the unique contribution our institutions are making. This brief offers some ideas of how to get involved.
We invite anyone with an interest or experience related to this theme to submit abstracts, and later full papers, particularly those which provide transferable examples of current practice, or which outline the developments needed to build skills, partnerships and resilience.
