For the first time in our careers, we were armed with new skills and strategies to transform the space for community more systematically and serve as hubs for local people, provide access to resources, services, and programs adapted to the needs of the community.
Building Community through Reading in Hong Kong
7 March 2025The objective of Professor Rossini’s research was to reconnect people with underutilized open spaces through temporary architectural and urban interventions. In addition to activating forgotten, neglected, or dysfunctional urban areas of the city, the project aimed to explore alternative solutions that could positively impact the community. It also sought to challenge the rules, limits, and guidelines imposed in government-managed spaces, which are typically implemented through a top-down approach.
Making Preparations for CONSAL XIX
7 March 2025The opening ceremony will be held on 17 June 2025 and will begin with a speech from the Chair of 19th CONSAL General Conference and Meeting. This will be followed by a speech and the opening ceremony by the Guest of Honour. Awards will then be presented for the CONSAL Young Librarian Award 2025 and the CONSAL Outstanding Librarian Award 2025 (Gold, Silver and Bronze).

ENSULIB announces the 10th IFLA Green Library Award 2025 Longlist in Two Categories
7 March 2025With generous sponsorship from De Gruyter Brill Publishing, ENSULIB circulated a Call for Submissions for the IFLA Green Library Award for the tenth year in a row. To ENSULIB’s great delight 41 submissions were received from 22 countries around the world, including Brazil (2), China (10), Croatia, Egypt, Finland (, France (5), Guadeloupe, India, Ireland, Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Philippines (2), Poland, Portugal (2), Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Thailand, Türkiye (2), United States of America (3). The full IFLA Green Library Award 2025 nominated longlist appears in two categories listed alphabetically by country below. There are 19 submissions nominated in the 2025 longlist. The reviewing process is still in progress. The IFLA Green Library Award 2025 nominated shortlist will be published in May. The winners in the categories “Best Green Library/Grand-Scale Project” and “Best Green Library Project” will be announced in August 2025.

5 March 2025In 2025, we will mark both ten years of the agreement of the UN’s 2030 Agenda, as well as five years until whatever succeeds it will need to be agreed. For the Culture2030Goal campaign, of which IFLA is a founding member, it will also need to be a year where the momentum towards recognition of the need for a dedicated culture goal grows.
